Setting Free Shipping for Orders Over a Certain Amount

Let's face it; a lot of customers just add a product to their shopping basket just to see how much the merchant is going to charge them for shipping. Since this is the case wouldn't it be nice to offer FREE shipping through your Shopsite store so you could increase your customer conversion ratio? If your store can't afford to offer free shipping on ALL orders then you should setup Shopsite's Free Shipping based on Order Total option. This way when a customer reaches the qualifying dollar amount they will no longer be charged any shipping for their order. This way both of you win!

How to Switch AuthorizeNET from Test to Live Mode

Once you've setup and configured your AuthorizeNET payment gateway with the Shopsite shopping cart it is very important that you change the processing mode from within your AuthorizeNET control panel from Test Mode to Live Mode. If you don't do this any orders that are processed through your store will be treated as real transaction however you won't be collecting any of the funds. In the event that you discover that your store is processing orders in Test Mode you will need to contact each of your customers and request their payment details for off-line manual processing.

Removing the Select Payment Type from Shopsite's Add to Cart Page

I have received a fair number of complaints from clients about how they don't like the 'Please Select Payment Type' drop down menu that loads on the Shopsite Add to Cart shopping cart page. They feel, and I agree with them, that this is a step they don't need their customer to take until they get to the Checkout page of the shopping cart. Shopsite creates this drop down menu when the merchant has opted to accept more than just credit cards through their store, i.e. Checks, Pay Pal. The reason why is because it needs to know what type of payment fields it needs to generate on the Checkout page.

Setting Up Worldpay in Shopsite

Worldpay is one of the supported 3rd party payment processing companies that the Shopsite shopping cart can be setup to use. The majority of businesses who use Worldpay as a payment processor typically reside outside of the U.S. where it is a lot harder to secure a merchant account for their on-line business.

Configuring Shopsite with AuthorizeNET's NEW Setting Procedures

During a recent conversation with AuthorizeNET I learned that in an effort to increase security they are no longer storing the merchant's login, password and transaction details within the store's source code. Before anyone who could read HTML code could potentially gain access to the merchant's login and password information. This tutorial will show you how to properly configure the AuthorizeNET payment gateway with Shopsite.

Embedding Sales Tracking Code in Shopsite's Thank You Page

On-line advertising is costing more and more money these days. That is why it is so important that you track and monitor the activity that is coming through your on-line ads and any resulting sales. Most advertising companies will provide you with custom JavaScript tracking code that you will need to place on your shopping cart's Thank You page. Lucky for us, Shopsite makes it easy to do this.

Increase Sales by Storing Unfinished Orders in Shopsite

Busy, busy, busy! Since no one has any time these days what happens when one of your customers is buying something from your store and is suddenly distracted or has to leave the computer. In most cases the customer would have to start over again however not with Shopsite. Out of the box, Shopsite only cookies and keeps unfinished orders for seven (7) days however you can set it to a maximum of ninety-nine (99) days! This way when your customer comes back to your store their cart contains what they added the last time they abandoned it.

Turning Off AuthorizeNET's Receipt in Shopsite

When you setup the AuthorizeNET payment gateway in Shopsite to securely process your credit card payments it will automatically send out its own order receipt in addition to the one Shopsite sends. Since sending your customer two order receipts is probably not a great idea I would strongly recommend that you disable this feature.

Placement of Billing & Shipping Address in Shopsite

Within Shopsite you can display the Shipping and Billing information to your customers in one of two different layouts. The default for displaying this information is side-by-side versus the information being stacked on top of each other. The layout style you choose will depend greatly on how your site / store layout has been put together. Personally I like to have the information stacked because it provides the customer with an intuitive downward flow that they have to follow.

Configuring Pay Pal in Your Shopsite Store

Like it or not Pay Pal is a viable payment option for your customers to use within your Shopsite store. Personally I would recommend using a merchant account for your credit card processing needs and complement it with Pay Pal for those who use and feel comfortable with it.
