During a recent conversation with AuthorizeNET I learned that in an effort to increase security they are no longer storing the merchant's login, password and transaction details within the store's source code. Before anyone who could read HTML code could potentially gain access to the merchant's login and password information. This tutorial will show you how to properly configure the AuthorizeNET payment gateway with Shopsite.

AuthorizeNET's New Configuration Steps Within Shopsite
Step #1: Logging into Shopsite

Before you can configure the AuthorizeNET payment gateway within your Shopsite you need to first be logged into its web based interface. Depending on your hosting provider you will have been given access information in order to login. If you do NOT have this information, get it from you host.

Once you have logged into your Shopsite back office you will be presented with a screen just like the one displayed above.

Step #2: AuthorizeNET Payment Information for Shopsite

Go to www.authorizenet.com

Click the Merchant Login button.

Enter your AuthorizeNET login and password information.

Click the Log In button.

Locate the Account section of the screen.

Click the Settings link.

Locate the Security Settings section of the screen.

Click the API Login ID and Transaction Key link.

Write down the API Login ID either on a piece of paper or in digital document, i.e. Notepad.

During the setup of your AuthorizeNET account you would have been asked to setup a Secret Question along with an Answer to that question. Enter you answer in the Secret Answer field.

Check the Disable Old Transaction Key(s) check box.

Click the Submit button.

Write down the Current Transaction Key either on a piece of paper or in a digital document, i.e. Notepad.

Step #3: Configuring Shopsite with the AuthorizeNET

Click the Commerce Setup button.

Click the Payment button.

Scroll till you reach the Credit Card Processing section of the screen.

Select the Authorize.Net radio button.

Click the Configure Processor button.

Enter the API Login ID in the Login ID field.

Enter the Transaction Key in the Transaction Key field.

Step #4: Saving Your Changes

Configure the remainder of the settings to your liking and once done click the Save Changes button.

This concludes our tutorial on how to setup the Shopsite shopping cart with the AuthorizeNET payment gateway.
